Main Tasks

- The role of a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Automation Security (AS) expert in the Global Technical Expertise Center is crucial in various aspects. They are responsible for providing strategic services, creating the primary services roadmap, collaborating with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and technical communities, and maintaining the corporate technical regulations in the MES/AS field. Additionally, they are responsible for the continuous growth and retention of the expertise team, keeping up with the latest technologies, and contributing to BASF's success in delivering exceptional solutions, to maintain its position as an industry leader.
- Strategic service delivery: Capture specific needs of internal customers, consolidating lesson learnt in daily work, best practices / proposals / technologies from suppliers or other outsources, to develop solutions most fit for purpose.
- Primary service assessment: Understand current services/skills team available. Mapping the customer needs to current capabilities, state-of-the-art technologies, and market trend. Develop roadmap and implement, for sustainable expertise growth.
- Internal partnership: Collaborate with cross-region and cross-functional teams for strategic solution development and integration. Collaborate with regional expertise teams to drive strategic topics. Joining experience exchange and sharing best practices within Global Technical Expertise Centers, Regional Technical Expertise Centers, and ODs. Maintain an expert network to realize a truly global technical expertise verbund. Coordinate the MES/AS relevant activities in the global/regional technical community.
- External partnership: Participate in industry events and conferences. Conducting market screening and driving technology development within the MES and AS disciplines.
- Knowledge retention: Protect BASF know-how and confidential information while supporting knowledge retention e.g. by internal train plans and training materials preparation.
- Technical rules: Develop and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, procedures, and guidelines etc.

Requirements

- Education: Bachelor’s degree or above in process control / automation or related field.
- Working Experience: 10+ years total work experience mandatory. 8+ years’ work experience in specific professional field (MES or Automation System) mandatory. 6+ years’ work experiences in chemical and petrochemical industry mandatory. Product/Solution management experience in specific professional field (in MES) preferable. International experience is an advantage.
- Profound knowledge in petrochemical/chemical field and its methods, program management; Extensive experience in MES system design and development.
- Deep understanding of system architecture, programming, control communication and system integration.
- Good knowledge in automation security concept with a deep understanding of industrial standard, network, layered network architecture, etc.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborative. Strategic thinking mindset .Innovative, willingness to pursue emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
